Recycled old wood made into a coat rack

Picture
THis is a very easy project! you can make it any size you want!

1. Lay out 2 pieces of wood that are the same lenght (or not) Like this..

--------
--------

2. then your going to lay 2, 3,4, wood planks over top. like this

                                       i  i  i i

position them the way you want. I put mine at all random lengths (see photo)

3. After you get the layout that you want to acheive you then flip it all over putting the  i  I  I  I
at the bottom and the  ------- on the top.
                                    -------

4. Now take a drill and screw from the back into the front. Make sure your screws are long enough to hit the boards on the other side to attach, but not to long that they would go through the front. Put one to 2 screws for each board (top and bottom)

5. Once all the boards are attached flip it over to the front. I bought my hardware from lowes. you want to get a level for this and make sure your hardware is stright ( or you can put the hooks on the way you want. Maybe 2 shorter ones or 2 taller ones) Screw them on and your done!

Make an Old Ugly Lamp Beautiful

Picture
I picked this old ugly lamp up at a local thrift store thinking oh, I can paint this and put a new lamp shade on it. well I painted it but made my own lamp shade!

Here is how:
1.
I used a metal spray paint that i picked up form the hardware store on sale for $3. it was paint in primer combo for metal surfaces. This was brass lamp base and i wish i took a before picture but i forgot.

2. i sprayed the lamp about 5-6 inches away then let my first coat dry. I then applied a second coat. Thats it!

3. I picked up a single lamp shade at another thrift store for .99 cents. Just plain and flat.

4. I then took some left over fabric i had from some chairs that I reupholstered. I watched a tutorial on you tube of how to cut out for a lamp shade.

5. so once i had my pattern cut out i took spray adhesive and carefully applied to the shade making sure no bubbles were showing. I folded the fabric over the top and under at the bottom.

and there you have it! A new lamp! I promise I will post before pictures on the next project!
